General accessibility

The design and layout of this website is arranged to increase the accessibility to those with disabilities, including those with visual impairment and those who have difficulty in using a mouse.

This page is accessible from all pages by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page or by using the accessibility keys shift+alt+a.

Web Accessibility Initiative

Each page on the website has been checked using tools promoted by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), home page. All priority 1 and priority 2 issues have been fixed and therefore the site is considered to conform to the Double A (AA) standard of the W3C-WAI Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.

Additionally, consultation has taken place, and continues to take place with people with a range of disabilities and their comments have shaped, and will continue to shape the design and content.

Jeff at Wynlea is committed to improving the accessibility of any website he designs and recognises that different web browsers, operating systems and accessibility software may access this site in different ways. Jeff welcomes discussion, feedback or suggestions in relation to improving the accessibility of this website. Such feedback should either be submitted on the contact form for this site, or through the contact form on the Wynlea website.

Changing the font size and text only version

There are 4 buttons located at the top left hand side of each page that allow the user to change to a text only version of the website or to choose between 3 different sizes of font.

By clicking on any of these buttons on any page the user will be able to improve the accessibility to their own preference. The four options include:

1. Text only version - all images are removed and the text becomes black on a yellow background
2. Largest font - size 24 pixels
3. Medium font - size 19 pixels
4. smallest font - size 15 pixels

Tab Index

Each navigation link to pages within this website and each input field on the contact form, have been assigned an index number which controls the way in which the user can tab through the site.

Use the tab key to highlight the correct link or field and then press enter to activate.

The first 4 tabs will move through the style buttons in the following order: text only, largest text, medium text and smallest text.

On the contact page, the tab index then takes the user through the fields in the electronic contact form in the following order:

1. Name field
2. Telephone Field
3. E-Mail Field
4. Description of Enquiry
5. Submit Button
6. Clear Button

On all pages each stroke of the tab key will allow the user to navigate the internal links the order shown under the access key section:

Access Keys

Each navigation link to pages within this website and each input field on the contact form, have been assigned an access key, which is underlined in the link. These keys are also accessible through screen readers.

The use of these access keys may depend on which browser is used.

In Firefox press Shift + Alt + the identified access key. This will activate the link

In Microsoft Explorer press Shift + Alt + the identified access key to highlight the link. Release and then press enter to activate the link.

Due to the number of different links and fields used, there are two keys that are used for two different links

• The S key has been assigned to the link for the Sailing page and to the submit button for the contact form
• The C key has been assigned to the link for the contact page and to the clear button for the contact form.

When working on the contact page, the user may have to repeat the pressing of the access keys until the right link or button is activated.
